How do you remove black stains from tile grout?

At first glance, cleaning the floor might seem like a

tedious yet simple task. However, when it comes to

deep cleaning—specifically whitening the grout—it’s a

different story.

Dirt, grease, and bacteria accumulate in the grout

lines, causing them to turn black and look unsightly,

especially if the tiles are white or light-colored.

If having clean floors is a priority for you, you’ll be

pleased to know that it is possible to whiten grout

naturally and effortlessly. Here are the four most

effective methods.

Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)

When mixed with water, this is one of the most

effective cleaning agents for a variety of surfaces.

Combine water and baking soda in a bowl and mix

until you achieve a creamy paste.

Apply the paste to the grout using a toothbrush and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Scrub the grout lines with a toothbrush to remove the dirt, then rinse.

Hydrogen peroxide

Typically found in first-aid kits, this product is also

highly useful for cleaning, disinfecting, and whitening tile grout.

Sprinkle some baking soda over the floor grout.

Add a small amount of hydrogen peroxide and a drop of dish soap.

Let it sit for 5 minutes, then scrub thoroughly with a toothbrush and rinse.

White vinegar

White vinegar has countless uses. In addition to

effectively cleaning tile grout, it is also highly effective

against limescale and mold.

Pour some vinegar onto the grout.

Add baking soda. Scrub thoroughly with a toothbrush, then rinse.
